The Wackiest Ship in the Army is a short-lived American television sitcom series that ran between 1965 & 1966 on NBC and was loosely based on the 1960 film The Wackiest Ship in the Army (film) starring Jack Lemmon. The series was set in the Pacific theater of World War II and centered around the crew of the USS Kiwi, a leaky wooden twin-masted schooner whose mission was to place spies behind Japanese lines. The Kiwi was jointly commanded by Major Simon Butcher (Jack Warden) and Lieutenant Richard "Rap" Riddle (Gary Collins).
